Creating Content
Whether you use your social media platforms for business or personal gain, I recommend using these strategies to develop content.
In acquiring my marketing degree, I attended a variety of courses that were social media related. Using what I learned at university and the experiences from starting my own content creation business - I discovered that website traffic directly correlates to the consistency, frequency, and content. So, here are some questions to consider while creating your content.
What are you posting about?
To answer this question, think about the general topic of your platform. If it is too narrow, it will be difficult to generate new and exciting content with your audience. If it is too broad, your audience can lose interest and look elsewhere. Make it a point to find a good balance. Once you’ve decided on your general topic, think of subcategories to sort your content. This is an effective way to kickstart brainstorming.
When are you posting?
The days and times you post to each platform affect page activity. Generally, each platform has a recommended posting time regarding your time zone. But, if you utilize the analytics on these apps, you can determine the best times and days to post for your followers. I suggest creating a content calendar to help you keep track!
Why is the content valuable?
Think about what meaning you want your audience to receive. Are you trying to inform? Are you trying to relate? This is where I emphasize the importance of knowing your voice. Accurately controlling your voice can improve your storytelling! For instance, being enthusiastic when achieving goals, calls for joyous expression. On the other hand, serious matters should be handled with a cautious or sympathetic tone. Just remember to be your authentic self!
Conclusion
All in all, creating content is only limited by your imagination, but growing your platform requires strategy. The next time you find yourself drawing a blank on content ideas, think of the three w’s: what, when, and why! Good luck, and I hope my tips were helpful!
